AVG Free Under-handedly upgrades to 8.0 paid

Many of you have been using AVG 7.5 Free, and prior to that 7.0, etc. Recently Grisoft, AVG’s company, has pulled another “Upgrade to the paid version” (but there still is a free one we’re not wanting to tell you about) stunt.

Many of you have been using AVG 7.5 Free, and prior to that 7.0, etc. Recently Grisoft, AVG’s company, has pulled another “Upgrade to the paid version” (but there still is a free one we’re not wanting to tell you about) stunt.

While I really appreciate the fact that they’ve put out a decent product for free for a long time now, the way they’ve gone about upgrades the last couple of times, smacks of bait and switch advertising. Those of you who were running the AVG 7.5 Free have seen, or will soon see, a pop up like the one below.

You can see they conveniently left out the existence of AVG Free 8.0…. not cool man, not cool :p
